Teddy Steffel has been active for his entire life.  He grew up playing every sport he could but settled in to baseball once he got to college.  He first went to Irvine Valley College as a true walk-on and earned a spot on the baseball team after being a red shirt his first year.  It was also at Irvine Valley College where his passion for fitness first began to sprout.  After Irvine Valley College, Teddy earned a baseball scholarship to Dordt University where his passion for training really grew.  While getting his BA in Exercise Science, Teddy was often found in the gym helping his teammates with their workouts or creating workouts for himself and others.  It was seeing the success that came with training in every aspect of his and other’s lives that really hooked Teddy to training.  Upon graduation, Teddy accepted an internship at S.T.A.R.S in Anaheim, CA where he was able to further his education while working with college and NFL level athletes.  Once he finished his internship, Teddy began to train out of Redline Athletics in San Juan Capistrano where he was the head trainer of their Elite Women’s Fitness program.  It was here that Teddy found his style of training.  By combining strength training with high intensity finishers, he was able to help people build muscle and gain strength while also achieving a higher level of fitness.

His biggest motivations to the fitness lifestyle are helping people reach their goals and falling in love with fitness.  Teddy also has firsthand experience with the difficulties that come with trying to achieve one’s fitness goals.  During his redshirt year, Teddy gained almost 40 pounds.  Knowing he had to do something to get back into shape, Teddy dove headfirst into achieving his goal.  In just a few months, he was able to go from 240 pounds to 220 pounds.  While this was a good start in order for him to have a better chance to be successful, he wasn’t satisfied.  He continued this journey and has been able to lose a total of 40 pounds.  This was not an easy transformation, haven taken multiple years and different training styles, but once it had become his lifestyle, there was no going back.  It was seeing the transformation that he went through and what his clients were able to achieve are what motivates him to continue to learn and further his education so that he can better help his clients reach their goals.

Currently, Teddy is a NASM certified personal trainer and bootcamp instructor at the YMCA in Newport and Huntington Beach as well as the head baseball coach of Newport Harbor High School’s JV baseball team.  He is excited to become a part of the Shredz family and help the people of Ladera Ranch reach their fitness goals
